Lenten Fish Fry Series: Mary Queen of Heaven in Erlanger, KY

Last week we headed across the river to try out our first Kentucky fish fry. We had heard great things about Mary Queen of Heaven and had to see the infamous "Codfather" for ourselves.

At this fish fry you can eat in and they also have a drive thru! The parking is slightly limited...we were able to find a spot right away but our friends who came about 10 minutes after us had a little trouble finding a spot...but that is mostly because the place was PACKED. The line was longer when we left around 7:30 as when we got there at 5:30!

But the frosty beverages being sold in the line made the wait slightly more bearable.

So starting off with the beer...if you're looking for a craft beer selection, this is not your place.... they just had the standard millers and maybe a hard apple cider? But it was cold, so I think it's fine...

Back to the long line. While the line was long, they are very efficient. You can tell they've been doing this for years and have it down to a science.. You order your food, they give you a number and literally by the time you find a table and take your coat off.....someone has brought you your food. It was very impressive.

Rob and I ordered the fish and chips platter which was beer battered cod strips with french fries. It was HOT (which has been an issue with some of the places) and was really delicious. This is in my top two now (with Nativity) for best actual fish. The french fries were good too. This was $8.75

Hannah got the kids meal ($3.50) and it was a little fish sandwich, fries and a drink (white milk, chocolate milk or a box juice).

A friend that was with us got the haddock sandwich which comes on a hoagie bun

We also got to see the infamous "codfather" walking around...and a mascot of some sort that was freaking Hannah out.. haha

Did you catch that?

The night ended with a good old fashioned toddler dance party

All in all this was a great fish fry. It was organized, the fish was hot and delicious, there was beer and friendly people so this is a big recommend!
