Restaurant Review- Mr Sushi

Mr Sushi is a new(ish) sushi joint downtown right around where oceanaire used to be. The inside is modern and swanky but still comfortable and cozy. I didnt have my camera with me so these are pics from Rob's iphone...sorry about that.

We ordered the "sushi for two" meal which came with two soups, two salads and a big plate of sushi including 20 pieces of sushi and 2 rolls...all chef's choice. Although the waitress let us tell her what we preferred so the chef could take that into consideration.

Soup & Salad:

I am not usually a fan of salad dressing at sushi places. My mind goes straight to hunks of ginger (particularly the Benihanna's dressing..which I hate)...but this dressing, even though ginger based was DELICIOUS. Creamy and lite at the same time. I loved it.

Main Course:

Great selection and sizes of all kinds of sushi. It was almost fun to let the chef pick for us because we got to try some things we woudn't normally order. Delicious.
If you're downtown and craving sushi...this is a great spot for you :)

You are so lucky to get to eat out so frequently! Could you describe how you two decide how much of your grocery budget to use for fun meals out? My guy and I already spend upwards of $500 a month on healthy food for home cooking and don't have much wiggle room for meals out-- maybe we could drop down from organic to conventional produce on some things/eat less meat?

Hi Anonymous. I actually love love to cook and mostly do that too, but the past 6 weeks I have been on crutches so we have been eating out a lot more than normal. That being said when we do eat out we LOVE coupons. For this meal we had a $25 gift certificate from Restaurant.com that I got for 80% off and paid $2 for. Therefore it made our dinner more reasonable. Also a lot of times we will split meals...especially when we know the restaurant and know there is plenty in one serving for sharing. We also pack our lunches most days of the week and buy a lot of our produce from farmers markets or most recently, we joined a local CSA and get produce delivered to us once a week.
