Beautiful Weekend

What a beautiful weekend I had! Beautiful weather, beautiful bride (and groom), beautiful friends, and just an all around great time.

Saturday morning started with all the good old wedding things. Hair, makeup & mimosas followed by dresses, pictures and the biggest limo in Cincinnati. We headed to downtown Hamilton for the Bride and Groom to see each other for the first time that day. Downtown Hamilton was a nice place for pictures because we were too far from downtown Cincinnati for it to make sense for us to go all the way down there, but also gave the urbanish pictures Jenn was looking for. However, I’m not sure if anyone in Hamilton has ever seen a wedding before as we were getting honked at, cat calls out the window, etc. Now don’t get me wrong, when I see a wedding party I definitely stare a little…but not sure why all the honks and hollers were necessary… haha. I am so excited to see the professional pictures because I think their photographer really got some fun and different shots….but for now, you will have to deal with a couple of my random shots from the day. I obviously have no pictures from the ceremony since I was standing up during it, but it was so nice. From the horse and carriage entrance to the beautiful and meaningful vows everyone was very touched.

After the ceremony it was time to rock out at the reception. We danced our pants off to such CI favorites as Bon Jovi and Journey and did a lot of our usual make a circle and push random people in the middle to dance like a jackass. It was a wonderful night. Afterwards we met up in a random West Chester strip mall dive bar to continue the party. Since we were practically the only ones in there, we pretty much did whatever we wanted, including making the dj download and play Instant Pleasure not once, but twice, letting Ryan sing karaoke despite the fact there was no karaoke machine or karaoke music and download and play Jenn and Jason’s first dance song as the last song of the night. Then, a friend of the bouncer took us back to our hotel. This is the kind of service I want at a bar All the time!

Anyway, I know I’m leaving SOooo much out, but let’s just end on the note that it was a fabulous weekend. Jenn and Jason are in Jamaica this week and all of my friends have gone back to their respective states/cities..but I’m already looking forward to the next time we can all be together again! Congratulations Jenn and Jason!!

Gam Girls Reunite!

I am very excited for this weekend. For one, one of my closest friends, Jenn Martin, is getting married to the love of her life this weekend, which is an amazing thing to celebrate. And second (and almost as an amazing thing to celebrate)- the Gam Girls will all be together again! The Gam Girls met at Ohio University (probably the best place on earth) their sophomore year in college. Here are some nostalgic pictures from their collegiate days.

In our natural habitat, Gam Hall:

Wet and cold, but happy to be together at Derby Days :-)
Instant Pleasure Shuffle:

I really don't have any idea:

While they do see each other fairly often, it is not as often that the entire group can be together at the same time, as they now reside all over the place. (New York, Texas, Indiana, California, Ohio) so they are very excited for their Cincinnati based reunion this weekend. The last time they were all together was at the wedding of Grzybowski, another Gam girl with a 4 day weekend celebration in lovely Laguna Beach, California back in October. There was a partial reunion in April at the nuptials of Jenny and Adam, but I am very excited for the dance party that can only ensue when everyone is together.

Girls- I am so very excited to see you this weekend!!!

ps- is it appropriate to request Instant Pleasure at a wedding reception?? haha.

Here is my exciting news of the hour!
It’s official! MTV has given Whitney Port her own spin off show. “They will start shooting immediately,” says a show source, who confirms the pickup just happened within the last two weeks. The series, set to begin airing in early 2009, will feature Port’s life in New York City, where she is now working for Diane von Furstenberg.

SO proud!

I received this e-mail today. I am so proud that my refusal to accept poor service and my love affair with "strongly worded letters" has inspired my friends :-)

Jen -
You would be so proud of me I wrote my first strongly worded letter to Chipotle as my black beans were not fully cooked and my burrito bol was sub par. I am being rewarded with burrito bucks whatever those are. Thanks for being my inspiration to not just accept sub par food or service.

Blackout 2008!

I am waiting for my computer to uninstall Microsoft Office and reinstall a better Microsoft Office, so my computer and everything on it is running annoyingly slow. What better time to fire up "WordPad" and write a blog while waiting for everything to finish?

This has been quite an interesting week. On Sunday while we were recovering from the aches and pains of being old and spending the day at Kings Island and watching the Bengals lose, there was apparantly a hurricane outside. While I did realize it was ridiculously windy and that an awful lot of branches were flying off the trees and into my backyard.....and they did keep saying on tv that there was a "windstorm." I had no idea what was really going on out there. Then by that night, 690,000 Duke Energy customers were without power....and about 200,000 of them are STILL without power (including Rob) I, thank goodness, was a lucky one in that I never lost power, but unlucky that my work also never lost power. (PG probably has like 50 backup generators to insure this). But I would prefer that to not having power at home and still having to go to work. We have people in our group showering in the work locker room at the gym, showering at friends' houses, or taking freezing cold showers for going on 5 days! Not to mention I have no idea what they are eating every night. I can't even imagine going through a real disaster and how much this city would Freak out.

On another note, there has been some good tv on this week! Did anyone know that Annie's love interest, Ty (from 90210) went to Oak Hills High School! Hello hottie local celebrity! And Dylan is the baby's daddy? Luke Perry Cameo in the future?! Anyone catch the season premier of the biggest loser?? I'm not sure who I'm rooting for yet, but I do know that I'm excited to see the end results of Tom and LT (and yes, LT stands for "Little Tom") Jillian is scary. She is seriously terrifying. I like her line to the girl on the yellow team who's dad has SERIOUS medical issues and collapsed on the treadmill "Your Dad is over there on the treadmill about to DIE now GET UP!" Should be an interesting season! Also, I haven't watched last nights Real World/Road Rules Challenge (anyone besides me still watch this?) but last week's episode was very interesting. I love how they give them no food but there is still plenty of booze for everyone to go around....Guess the show wouldnt be as interesting without it, but HELLO maybe not the best idea to give a bunch of bored idiots only white rice to eat along with a STOCKED liquor cabinet.

Tonight we are going to the Baccnalian Event on Fountain Square. I love Baccnalian and have been to events at Music Hall, the Freedom Center, etc but have never been to an outdoor event. Should be a perfect night for the theme of "European Whites."

Kings Island Weekend!

This weekend is P&G Weekend at Kings Island. It is the only weekend I will go to Kings Island every summer for many reasons:
The tickets are free
The line are short
We get free stuff
The amount of people wearing matching airbrushed t-shirts is minimized (could also be counted as a negative)
I can only handle going once a summer, so…PG weekend wins :)

That being said, I will admit that I am the biggest scaredy cat alive. Since I was a small child I have not liked, “feeling like I’m going to die.” This fear can include my dislike for horror movies, haunted houses, scary roller coasters, the thought of skydiving or bungee jumping, etc. There are many rides at KI that I have never/will never ride. There are also a few that I have ridden once just to make sure I hate it and will never ride again.

For example, let’s talk about Delirium. Who in their right mind would let someone strap them into that death trap and then let it flip them upside down for 3 minutes (that probably feel like 75 terrifying minutes?) I have never/will never ride this ride. Firehawk- You can’t be serious. You want to strap me into that and then make me stare into the face of my imminent death on my stomach while you flip me upside down? Get real. What about hanging me upside down for 5 minutes with my face in a fiery pit, a la tomb raider. Yeah, I don’t think so.

Now, let’s talk about good rides! The mini cooper rides. How cute are their little doors on the little cars that actually open! The cute little vanity licensed plates! The fire and the helicopter… now THAT is a ride! Adventure Express…those men in the tunnel….so scary! Even the backwards racer (now goes frontwards-lame) is exciting… “aaaah! What’s next? I don’t know because I’m going backwards!!” Even the beast is a great solid 3 minutes of head jerking excitement…but at least the excitement with these rides, outweighs sheer terror. Or what about just the scrambler, spider, 3d action theatre? Oh man- now these are where the fun is at.

So if you will be at KI this weekend for P&G’s dividend day…look for me. I will most likely be riding the scooby zoom or in line for a smurf blue ice cream cone in kiddie land.

My Boyfriend on SNL!

Don't forget to set your DVR for my handsome and humble boyfriend for SNL this Saturday night. It will be fun to watch bc he's kind of adorably awkward (in a good way) so it will be funny to see what they make him do. yay! go Michael. Olympic swimmer turned comedic actor??

Jillian Michaels and I are in a fight.

Jillian and I have been spending some quality time together this week. I like to call these next couple of weeks “The three week cut the gut marathon session to look good in a bridesmaids dress at Jenn Martin’s wedding” (if anyone can think of a name catchier than that, that would probably be good.)..anyway, I am dieting, spending daily qt with Jillian and extending my dog walks to include more hills/speed. Many of you might remember Jillian from the hit series, “The Biggest Loser” where Jillian yelled at 300lb people enough to make them only weigh 150lbs. While her training might be effective, I think it’s having some serious effects on our friendship. Here is a letter I have drafted to Jillian about the past couple of days.

I don’t think we can be friends anymore. You yell at me at night and then make me not be able to walk the next day. You never ask me to lunch or coffee, you just flaunt your rock hard abs in my face and make me feel like a heifer. This is no way to sustain a relationship. I will see you tonight, but I don’t have to like it.
Love Jen

Hopefully this will get my point across.

Also, I promised a random blogger shout out to Eric Bogart, pretty much the god of excel. Thanks for your help yesterday!

OU almost wins...Journey Rocks Riverbend

This Saturday we departed for Columbus, OH at 730am to watch OSU vs. OU. Being that there were 2 OU and 1 Miami grad in the car, we didn’t really know too much about OSU’s campus, and let the random people standing on the streets with homemade signs lead us to a dilapidated junk yard where we paid $20 to park.(see pic- “Wall really brought the horsepower to this party.”) Unfortunately I had taken so many pictures last weekend (Jenn’s bachelorette party- I realize I have yet to blog about this fun event)- and then took so many pictures at our ridiculously ghetto “tailgate” that once we got in there and I took a few pictures of the band with the cursive Ohio, and then my camera sadly informed me he was out of power and that would be all the pictures I would be taking that afternoon.

Still we had really great seats from Wall’s boss (and even had cushioned seats with backs on them bolted to our bleacher seats- obvs the envy of all!)…and the most exciting part was that OU was winning at halftime! There was a very strange energy in the Buckeye stadium as the Bobcats kept up with the Buckeyes…and of course I had to rub it in by giving the only OU fans around (10 rows back) air high fives…. Obviously in the end, the Buckeyes prevailed as everyone predicted, but it was still fun to go and root on the alma mater and be a part of the excitement in Columbus during an OSU home game.

Sunday, after sleeping in late and spending some qt on the couch, we slapped on some 80s gear and prepared for the Journey Concert. A little flipcup, a little power (half) hour and we were on our way. The new singer sounded almost scarily similar to Steve and rocked out the show. As with any nostalgic band, everyone rocked out to the classics and went to the bathroom/refilled their beers during the new songs.
It was a good time had by all, but Monday morning in the office was not fun, as to be expected and next time I play any amount of flipcup or power hour on a Sunday night, I am taking Monday off…

Stephanie's Exciting Political Discovery!

Stephanie had thought on Friday that the new VP held a striking resemblance to the sex ed teacher turned stripper from "Varsity Blues" and worked endlessly until she could find a picture (it was NOT easy!). After sending it out to friends and them realizing she was onto something, one of her friends sent it to a local Chicago radio station, where they called her immediately to discuss. The link is now on the front page of the radio station's website and google searches for the sex ed teacher from varsity blues have crept up. Good Job Steph. Your political insight has earned you high marks from this blog!

90210- The New Class?

I have to admit I wasn’t a huge 90210 junkie back in the day, but this ridiculous spin-off seems like something I could get hooked on in a “watching DVR hungover on the couch on a Sunday” sort of way. I think its ridiculous/funny how non-famous all the original 90210 cast is now, that they are all involved in this show. Jennie Garth is a guidance counselor of some sort (who in two hours, I never saw guide anyone in anything), Shannon Doherty comes to visit, the dude that owned the “Peach Pit” was the same. Plus the network its on is called the “CW”- wtf is the CW?

It’s kind of a Dawson’s Creek meets the OC kind of show.
Did anyone watch the 2 hour premier of this new hit series last night?
